Please make a donation to one of our team members or become one of us by joining our team. If you can’t join us on August 15th, please consider supporting us!īy making a donation or joining our team, you will be helping the Association provide community-based education programs, protect the rights of people with diabetes and fund critical research for a cure.Īs a team, united in our desire to Stop Diabetes, we are asking for your support. In 2014, one of our team members even completed the 100 mile route!

Most of our team members are blind and visually impaired and ride the 100K Route behind a volunteer captain who leads the way. We are proud of all that our team members have accomplished. You can register to ride with us on August 15th at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont, Colorado! Just visit our Team Page and select “Join This Team” on the right side of the page. We are committed to ride and raise money in this inspirational event not because 29 million people in the United States have diabetes, but because we personally know some of them, and want to do something about it! We are motivated to ride because our team members understand the link between diabetes and visual impairment.

We initially decided to team up to change the future and make a positive impact in the lives of those who are affected by diabetes. Eyecycle has been a part of the Tour de Cure Colorado for the past three years and we are excited to take on our fourth year riding to Stop Diabetes right here in Colorado. Efforts like this 399-mile, six-day odyssey are easy to see why: In 2008, he lost his vision in his left eye, and the same degenerative disease then claimed the vision in his right eye three years later, in 2011. Van Hall, the former general manager of the Denver Athletic Club, is a full-time motivational speaker. Jackson is captain, sitting in the front, and van Hall is the so-called “stoker” - the person pedaling behind. A fresh coat of frost lines the mountaintops above, and ice coats the bicycle’s orange and maroon frame and two leather seats, leftover from the rain the day before. It is just after 6 a.m., and the temperature hovers around 35 degrees. Three … two … one, quietly says Andre van Hall, as he and riding partner Tim Jackson push off on their Santana tandem bicycle for the third leg of this year’s Ride The Rockies tour on Tuesday. Here’s a photo of Eyecycle Colorado’s Randie Polidori and Andre van Hall during their Ride the Rockies tour this June 12-16, 2016.
